Baking for a Cure: Siena Residents Join the Fight Against Alzheimer’s
September 25, 2024
Siena and our residents recently came together to host a bake sale in support of the Alzheimer’s Association. Their goal was to help raise both awareness and funds for a cure, and thanks to everyone who stopped by, we’re thrilled to announce that we raised $356.43! This donation will be presented to the Cincinnati chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association to continue the fight against this devastating disease.
World Alzheimer’s Day, observed on September 21st, is part of a global effort to raise awareness and challenge the stigma surrounding dementia. This year marks a pivotal time in the battle against Alzheimer’s, with newly approved treatments available to slow the disease in its early stages. While this progress is significant, much more remains to be done. By coming together, we hope our contribution will support ongoing research and provide care and resources to families affected by Alzheimer’s.
The impact of Alzheimer’s is staggering: 1 in 3 older adults dies with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia. It claims more lives than breast and prostate cancer combined. Every three seconds, someone in the world develops dementia. Despite common misconceptions, Alzheimer’s is not just a part of aging—it is a progressive and fatal disease.
We are grateful to everyone who helped make our bake sale a success and for joining us in the fight against Alzheimer’s. Together, we’re making real progress, one step at a time.
